One of the three riders from the Eureka High School Rodeo Club will advance to the National High School Rodeo finals after a strong showing

Eureka County High School Rodeo Club member Clay Norcutt competes in the state finals at the White Pine County Fairgrounds last weekend. Norcutt had a strong showing and qualified for the National Finals in the tiedown event.

One of the three riders from the Eureka High School Rodeo Club will advance to the National High School Rodeo finals after a strong showing in the state finals held at the White Pine County Fairgrounds over the weekend. Clay Norcutt finished third in the tiedown event, and sixth in team roping. The top four scoring cowboys and cowgirls from each event qualify for the national finals held in Rock Springs, Wyo on July 13-19. Norcutt finished 10th overall in the state rodeo out of over 140 contestants.

His sister, Natalie Norcutt finished 21st in the competition after competing in four events. She finished seventh in breakaway racing and pole bending, tenth in barrel racing and 21st in the team roping event.

Eureka club member Shara Green also had good performances in her three events, finishng in 8th place in the barrel racing event, 18th in pole bending and 24th in breakaway roping.
