Amid questions surrounding the future of recorder Sara Simmons’ job, including the on-going recall petition and notification to appear before the County Commission, Simmons has resigned her position as recorder.
The official resignation came Sept. 19, the day before the scheduled commission appearance.
Chairman JJ Goicoechea appointed deputy recorder Lisa Hoehne to fill the position until a permanent appointment can be made at the commissioners’ Oct. 6 meeting.
The county will take applications until 5 p.m. on Oct. 5 to appoint someone through the end of the recorder’s term which is December 2018.
The commission also confirmed a salary deduction from Simmons’ salary for four days in August, 2016.
Hoehne was also granted authority to appoint a deputy recorder.
