Marjean Mercer Hooper

Marjean Mercer Hooper, of Sparks Nev., passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on February 3, 2018.

She was born on January 1, 1935 to Richard and Rose Mercer in Lovelock, Nev., where she spent her childhood.

In her early 20’s, she married Beverly Udell Hooper and moved to his family’s ranch in Eureka, Nev., where being the remarkable, dedicated, strong woman we all knew, helped to run a 250,000 acre ranch, all while raising 5 children.

After her husband’s death in 1986, she moved to Carson City and then later to the Reno/Sparks area, where she began a new career working for the Washoe County School District as a cook for Agnes Risley elementary school. One of her greatest loves was working and interacting with the children there.

Marjean was preceded in death by her husband, Beverly Hooper.  She is survived by her sons, Richard, Rebel (Chris), Robin (Darla), Cody (Kerri), and her daughter, Jordan (Randy), as well as grandchildren, Ryan (Suzanne), Christian, Jordan (Ana), Shannon, Montana, Madison and Corbin and 6 great grandchildren.

The family would like to give a big thank you and huge hug to Holly Brown and Darla Phenix for all their help, love and support during the past 3 years.  We know our mom loved you with all her heart and we appreciate you so much!!

A celebration of life will be held at Pinocchio’s in Sparks on Saturday March 3, 2018 at 4 p.m.
