Know Your Limitations

It would not take more than the ten digits on my two hands to count the number of times I have been on a horse.  I really love horses. Their sleekness and warm coats. There is nothing like the smell of a horse.  Ruddy and wholesome like no other smell on earth. When I see horses I have this nearly overwhelming urge to bound over and jump right on and trot off into the sunset.  It is so romantic.  I picture myself being like the cowboys of the old western movies.  Grabbing the horn of the saddle and without...

Week-end Hermits

It doesn’t matter if you work 5 days a week for 8 hours a day or 4 on and 3 off.  Maybe you work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or what I dreaded was the 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. swing shift.  Had to go to work just when the crowd was gathering and got off too late to join in the fun that was already in full swing. Send a Card/Get a Card

Send a Card/Get a Card I recently received two cards in the mail.  I was just like a little kid.  My heart sped up a little, a smile crept onto my rounded little face with anticipation.  When was the last time I had received a card and it was not my birthday or any special occasion?  I could not remember.  The cards were an unexpected thrill that still has my attention and thankfulness. Does it matter to you who sent them to me? I doubt it.  Does it matter to you why they were sent?  Probably not. But you’re...

No! I Do Not Agree to Disagree

There is a little piece of paper taped up on the wall of the office my husband and I use. It reads; “In the realm of all things great and possible, does this really matter?” Meaning–whatever is making you crazy, feeling like you are ready to rip someone’s lips right off their face, ready to pull somebody’s hair out through their nose, ready to let go with a line of words that would make the sun melt–are these things happening to you at that moment really worth spending your most valuable commodity on, your precious time?  We, well I,...

Popcorn…

Never eat while standing at the sink is a piece of advice I have heard.  It has something to do with not eating the right things.  Eating too much quick stuff and not enough nutritional things.  Okay I say, I will not eat while standing at the sink.  I will sit down and eat a regular meal. Eating at the sink conjures up meals like eating peanut butter right out of the jar off of a knife. Or popping the top off a can of Vienna sausages picking out one at a time and stuffing them in like your...
