
Junior Megan Damele took home three firsts and a second. Damele placed first in the 100 and the 400 meters with her times of 13.94 and 1:03.59. Her long jump of 15-feet- 5 inches landed her another first while her time of 27.25 in the 200 meters earned a second.
Distance sprinter Katie Damele heads to state in two events – the 800 meter and the mile as does the boys distance runner Brendan Mears. K Damele placed fourth in both her races with a time of 2:43.05 in the 800 meter and a time of 6:13.07 in the mile. Mears finished second in the 800 meters at 2:09.19 and third in the mile at 5:04.05.
Trevor Merritt placed second in the high jump with his personal best jump at 5-feet 8-inches.
Merritt, Mears, Errol Porter, and Stephen Watts will also run the 4×800 relay at state with a qualifying third place, crossing the line in 9:40.40.
Freshman Kallie Norris placed fourth in the 100 hurdles, crossing in at 18.86 seconds.
The Lady Vandals 4×200 relay team of Natalia Burton, Nicole Burton, Norris, and Nicole Orozco placed third with their time of 2:01.91.
