The Eureka High School football team hopes for a better result than last year in the teams opening game this season.

The Vandals hit the road for their Saturday game to face off against the same team that beat them 56-6 last year in the season opener, Virginia City.

Always a tough team to play, especially at their house, the Muckers compiled an 8-2 record last year and fell to Spring Mountain in the state semi-final game. Eureka went in the opposite direction a year ago and missed the playoffs after winning just one game all season.

The Vandals, under head coach Fred Minoletti, look to start the season off right this weekend with a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.

Eureka returns home on Sept. 6 to take on Coleville at 7 p.m.
