The Eureka County Sheriff’s Office hosed its 4th National Night Out last week at the Eureka Firehouse.

The Eureka County Sheriff’s Office hosted its 4th National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 5,  from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Eureka Firehouse.

A number of booths provided information from their organizations for the residents of Eureka County.  The following organizations helped make a very successful evening:

  • Barrick Ruby Hill Mine
  • General Moly
  • Midway Gold
  • Eureka Medical Services
  • Eureka Search and Rescue
  • NDEP
  • Lifeguard International Air Ambulance
  • American Med Flight
  • Victim Witness Services
  • Eureka Juvenile Probation
  • Mt. Wheeler Power
  • Nevada Department of Wildlife

The Sheriff’s Office provided hot dogs, chips, cookies, cake, ice cream, and drinks for the attendees.  We played a game “What Do You Know” that was related to Firearm Safety and awarded prizes to the winners.  There was a demonstration by the Nevada Department of Wildlife on Fire-arm Safety.  Mt. Wheeler Power also presented an electrical safety demonstration.

This year’s goal for “Project 365” is to promote Firearm Safety.  Firearm Safety is to eliminate or minimize the risks of unintentional damage, in-jury or death caused by the improper possession, storage, or handling of firearms.

We have made this an annual event in our community and we look forward to next year.
