The Eureka Junior High track team opened their season in Eureka on March 28.
Eighth graders Alia Minoletti and Melissa Schweble both placed well in their individual events. Minoletti took three firsts in the long jump, 1,600 meter and 800 meter runs. Schweble placed first in the shot put and second in the discus.
Seventh grader Delaney Mears took home a first in the 800 meter and a third in the high jump. Skylar Merritt, also a seventh grader, placed second in the shot put and second in the discus.
Sixth grader Sydney Norris took home a first in the 100 meter and the 200 meter, a second in the long jump, and second in the 100 meter hurdles. Jamie Protani placed second in the discus and third in both the shot put and long jump. Jamie Damele placed third in the 200 meter.
The lone boy to place in the top three was Daniel Watts. Watts, also a sixth grader, placed first in the high jump and a second in the 100 meter hurdles.
The sixth grade 4×100 relay team consisting of Damele, Watts, Protani and Norris took home a first place.
