Eureka went through their pre-season schedule in boys basketball with a 9-2 record. They played their first league games of the season at home last Friday and Saturday, winning both.

They played their first league game Friday against the Carlin Railroaders. Eureka has beat Carlin by huge margins multiple times in the pre-season and the league game was no different. The Vandals poured in the baskets while holding Carlin to a lowly 28 points for the entire game.

Senior guard Nick Hornberger led all Vandals in scoring with 15 points while fellow starters Jaiden Hicks, Trevor Merritt, Nick Gordon, and Paul Padilla all scored in double figures to lead the Vandals to a 73-28 victory over the Railroaders.

The next day, Eureka played Owhyee for its second straight league contest at home in the Fieldhouse. Domination occurred again as the Vandals played with great tempo on the offensive end while putting up another impressive performance on the defensive end. Leading scorer Padilla put up 24 points on the Braves while Merritt, Gordon, and Hicks added 18, 12, and 11 points respectively. Eureka won easily 74-48 to secure their second straight league victory.

The Vandals are 2-0 in league and 11-2 overall.

Eureka will play two more league games in Wells and Jackpot over the weekend as they look to continue their strong start to the season.
