Eureka County High volleyball coach Kati Benson and her 2016 Lady Vandals put a good foot forward this past Friday as they won their first matches of the season against Pyramid Lake. Eureka protected their home court and didn’t lose a single game in either the JV or Varsity matches.
The JV game introduced some young Lady Vandals to the high school game and they didn’t disappoint in their first match of the season. They won the best out of three match by winning games with scores of 25-10 and 25-11.
The varsity game was much of the same as Eureka continued to dominate the Lady Lakers in three straight games with scores of 25-16, 25-17, and 25-14.
Benson was especially proud of her team captain Ally Protani as she explained, “Ally Protani turned in a solid performance as a libero and played with a lot of heart.”
Their next match was played at home against Round Mountain on Thursday, and they will travel to Battle Mountain this weekend to participate in a preseason tournament.
