BLM, TravelNevada kick off 2017 photo contest

July 8, 2017 by Eureka Sentinel Leave a Comment

The 2017 Bureau of Land Management Nevada photo contest begins today in partnership with TravelNevada. BLM Nevada will be accepting submissions for its annual photo contest now through Sept.15, 2017.

“When you travel to a new place, it’s the experiences that make the best souvenirs. In Nevada, you can have unforgettable experiences, whether you’re adventuring in the immense public lands, exploring a unique historic site, or enjoying one of the state’s multitude of events,” Claudia Vecchio, director of the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, said.

We are seeking amazing photos that highlight the best of BLM Nevada’s lands and historical sites. Categories include:

· People Exploring Nevada – Share photos of your favorite activities and adventures on BLM lands across Nevada – volunteering, working, camping, hiking, biking, boating, fishing, kayaking, skiing, climbing or riding… name your adventure! >>Don’t forget new people you may come across while exploring; capturing true Nevada characters in their own element will be considered as well.

· Weird and Wild – Take a walk on the wild side with photos of Wildlife, Wilderness, Wildflowers!

Employee – BLM/TravelNevada employees can submit their photos for a special employee category

“We want to hear about your journey to capture the photo you’re submitting,” Barb Keleher, BLM Nevada Recreation Planner, said. “In 250 words tells us all about your adventure to be considered in the top 20 contestants.”

For more information on the contest contact Rita Henderson, 775-861-6471, ritahenderson@blm.gov. Photographs may also be shared on Facebook and Twitter using #MyPublicLands. The winning photographs in the 2017 Calendar can be viewed at http://bit.ly/2gGXcnV.
