Annual county fair set for next week

The annual Eureka County Fair will take place next Aug. 10-13 next week.

Everyone should to the County Fair, even if you have been before.

The Eureka County Fair is Aug. 10-13 at the fairgrounds. And there are more reasons for you to go this year than there are to stay home.

The Exhibit Hall opens for entries from 1 to 7 p.m. Aug. 8 and again from 12 to 4 p.m. Aug. 9 with judging at 5 p.m.

Quite a few things are of interest at the fair. Fair Board Secretary Makayla Buchanan said a new event at the fair is a Youth Team Branding in the large and small arena Aug. 10 at 10 a.m. Also Thursday afternoon at 4:30 will be the Greased Pig Event in the small arena and the Youth Rough Stock event at 5:30 in the large arena.

On Friday, the Sage Brush Cutters will come in for a cutting performance at 10 a.m. From 3 to 8 p.m., in both arenas, will be the Rhonda Garaventa Memorial ACTRA Team Roping.

The County 4-H Livestock show will be all day Friday at the 4-H Shade tent from 8 to 4. A Hay contest at the pavilion will be from 8 a.m. to 2:30. The Nevada Reined Cow Horse Show in the large arena takes place from 9-3.

A dance at the pavilion with the Channel Cats from Baker City, Oregon happens Friday night at 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday, at 8:30 a.m. will be adult Team Branding Calcutta. The Exhibit hall opens at 9 a.m. The Mud Volleyball tournament begins at 10 a.m. At l p.m. will be the 4-H Livestock in the small arena.

Saturday night, V-Bar-L Rodeo Productions will present a rodeo in the large arena at 6 p.m. The Channel Cats will perform again in the pavilion from 9 to midnight.

A Gymkhana will be held at the arena on Sunday in both arenas.
