Eureka boys had a good showing in the field events at the NIAA 1A state track and field championships May 18-19 at Carson City High School.

Tristan Bircham’s second place in the Discus helped the Vandals score 15 points for 11th place among 17 teams. Spring Mountain won their fourth consecutive title with 209 points.

Meanwhile, the Lady Vandals showed their strength also in the relay and field events. A third and two fourth place finishes along with Angelika Townsend’s second place in the triple jump and Ilyhia Greely taking third and fourth place in the Shot Put and Discus respectively.

The girls earned 41 points for fourth place. Wells won the championship with 148 points, their first title since 2011.
