The Eureka girls won their first 1A girls state track and field championship May 18 at Desert Oasis High School in Las Vegas.

The Lady Vandals earned 117 points by taking five gold medals, three silver and three bronze, and three fourth place medals.

The Vandal boys had 29 points on the strength of Tristan Bircham taking the gold medal in both the shot put and discus.

In the girls meet, the Lady Vandals won gold medals by Louisa Terhalle in the 300m hurdles, Angelika Townsend in the 800 meters, Alia Minoletti in the shot put, Ilyhia Greely in the discus and Isabella Minoletti in the long jump.
