The annual Eureka County Fair is set for Aug. 8-11.

Welcome again to the Eureka County Fair and 4-H Fair! Did you attend last year? The 2019 version of the fair is Aug. 8-11.

Events get started as early as Aug. 6 when the exhibit hall will be open from 4 – 7 p.m. to receive entries and on Wednesday, Aug. 7 from Noon to 4 p.m. Judging of the exhibit entries is at 6:30 on Wednesday.

Activities get going more fully on Aug. 8. The Cook shack opens at 8 a.m. The Exhibit Hall will be open from Noon to 5 p.m. Youth team branding will be held from 10 a.m. to Noon in both the large and small arenas.

A Gymkhana will be held from 1 p.m. to 5:30. The greased pig contest will be at 5:30 in the small arena followed from 6 – 8 p.m. by the Youth Rough Stock in the large arena.

Friday sees the 4-H Market Animal weigh-in at 7 a. m. at the Sestanovich scale. The 4-H Livestock show happens from 8:30 a.m. to 4 pm. under the 4-H shade tent.

In the large arena, Sage Brush Cutters will be happening from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Exhibit Hall will be open Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Stock dog trials take place from 5 – 9 p.m.

Saturday is the big day of the fair filled with numerous events, the highlights of which include Team Branding Calcutta at 8 a.m., the Exhibit Hall open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Mud volleyball sign-ups at 9 a.m. The annual Scrabble tournament in the Pavilion at 9:30 a.m. Emily Schweble will perform the National Anthem at 9:45.

Mud volleyball games begin at 10 a.m. and Team Branding in the large area starts at 10 a.m. and runs until 4:30 p.m.

The 4-H Livestock auction happens in the small arena at 1 p.m. The horseshoe tournament also begins at 1 p.m.

A dance performance by Ruby Mountain Ardi Baltza will be held in the small arena at 4:30 p.m. Prizes for the 4-H exhibits will be awarded in the small arena at 6 p.m.

Exhibit hall entries may be picked up from 6 -7 p.m. Saturday evening and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The flag presentation and national anthem will happen at 6 p.m. in the large arena followed from 6 – 9 p.m. by Bull Riding and Old West Saddle Bronc riding.

A dance at the pavilion with live entertainment happens at 9 p.m.

Sunday is the final day of the fair, with the Rhonda Garaventa Memorial ACTRA Team Roping from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
