Members within the community congregated on Main Street in jubilation to witness the Christmas tree lighting and participate in the first Winter Wonderland Parade on Dec. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. Guests were serenaded with holiday tunes sung by the Eureka County High School Choir. Guests were encouraged to decorate their side-by-sides, trucks, bikes and trailers and wear festive gear for the parade, with community members partaking in the parade festivities.
Line-up for the parade began at 5 p.m. at the Parks Store, with the parade beginning at 5:15 p.m. The Christmas tree shone bright, colorful lights for the first time this year at 6 p.m. at the fire station, marking a celebration of the holiday season hosted by the ECHS Honor Society.
Local shops participated by giving holiday treats to shoppers supporting their small businesses. Country Cottage offered chili and hot drinks. 180 N. Main offered hot cider and cookies, with Eureka Depot offering food and drinks and Urban Cowboy offering dinner and drinks.
