County commission and school board candidates set to debate at Eureka Opera House on Sept. 7

Eureka Opera House is hosting two debates on Sept. 7. Starting at 6 p.m., Eureka County School Board candidates Leonard Fiorenzi and Douglas Dickover will discuss issues. At 7 p.m. Eureka County Commission candidates Tracey Mellard and Marty Plaskett, the incumbent, will begin their debate.

Eureka County encouraged citizens to use this event as a way to “engage with candidates and learn more about their visions for our community.”

Though county school boards and commissions in Nevada must follow state and federal law, which limits what each jurisdiction has power over, both school board trustees and county commissioners can have significant influence on a county.
