Country Cottage, located on 101 N Main St. in Eureka, is a quilt store and small gift shop that provides quality quilts and has an assortment of knick-knacks and decorated goods. This little shop, owned by Winonna Eversgerd and Darlene Moody, is a space for individuals to buy quilted and art goods while highlighting local artists and crafters within the community. A hot-spot of quilting goods, Country Cottage also provides a space for a variety of classes for the public to partake in, such as quilting classes, crochet classes and other technique and fabric-related classes. Mindy Filippini teaches quilting. Josie Hoekenga teaches crochet classes, and Winona Eversgerd teaches a scarf class. Due to weather, classes have ended for this year, and Country Cottage staff will provide more classes next year.
The most recent classes held at the Country Cottage included an intro to paper- piecing class on Nov. 12 for individuals to learn how to create elaborate quilting designs. Twelve people attended. A minky scarf class was taught Nov. 12 by Eversgerd.
Country Cottage is now preparing for its Shopping Extravaganza on Dec. 10, in which businesses along Main Street remain open late into the evening, providing refreshments for shoppers. The shopping extravaganza will be the cottage’s last open day of the year.
