ECHS track team competes in Fernley

Isabella Minoletti, the 1A girls state leader in the triple jump, won the event at the Fernley Invitational meet April 12 with a jump of 31-3¼. Her personal best is 31-7 set at the Elko Invitational the week before.

She and defending 1A girls state champion Mckenzie Poulsen of Pahranagat Valley are likely headed for a showdown at the state meet May 17-18 at Desert Oasis High School in Las Vegas.

Tristan Bircham, Garrett Todd and Tyler Blanco were the only Eureka Vandals in the boys meet, entered only in field events. But Bircham won the discus with a personal record of 131-06 and was fourth in the shot put. Bircham is the current 1A state leader in the discus, 21 feet ahead of Max Swanson of Tonopah.

In the larger Lady Vandals team, Alia Minoletti was second in the shot put, Ilyhia Greely second in the discus and I. Minoletti second in the long jump.

Greely is second in the current 1A state rankings in the discus behind Daniele Wadda-Martinez of Wells.

High Jump – Garrett Todd, 5-06

Long Jump – Todd, 15-07¼

Triple Jump – Todd, 33-03½, Tyler Blanco 30-04½

GIRLS

100 meters – Isabella Minoletti, 14.38, Alia Minoletti, 14.93, Breyana Miller, 15.35

400 meters – Angelica Townsend, 1:11.38

800 meters – Townsend, 2:53.48, Skylar Merritt, 3:17.08

1600 meters – Townsend, 6:21.13

3200 meters – Cambria Davis, 14:47.00

100m hurdles – Kyra Todd, 18.61

300m hurdles – Todd, 56.28, Louisa Terhalle, 57.87

4×100 relay – Third place, 55.23

4×200 relay – Fifth place, 2:03.48

Shot Put – A. Minoletti, 30-08, Melissa Schweble, 29-04, Ilyhia Greely, 29-02, Merritt, 28-03

Discus – Greely, 92-09, Merritt, 85-01, Schweble, 82-01

Long Jump – I. Minoletti, 15-01½, Miller, 11-11

Triple Jump – I. Minoletti, 31-03¼, Townsend, 30-00¾

Next meet for the Vandal teams is April 19 as they host the Eureka Invitational.
