Operated by the experienced Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows (BGCTM) and supported by strong local partnerships (to include hiring, training and HR), the Eureka Early Learning Center is preparing to break ground in the next few months. However, funding commitments totaling $300,000 to $400,000 are still required from philanthropic partners, industry leaders and local stakeholders within the next few weeks. These contributions are essential to secure a timely construction start, maintain momentum and ensure a successful project completion within the planned 12-month time frame.
The Early Learning Center, the main focus of the project to date, will occupy 4,200 square feet of the proposed 6000-square foot multipurpose metal facility. The decision to use metal construction for the new facility was driven by its durability, cost-effectiveness and ability to withstand the region’s challenging weather conditions. With an estimated budget of $4.6 million, including $300,000 for the design and $200,000 for furniture, fixtures and equipment, the facility will provide a developmentally appropriate environment for 60 children aged 0-5. The state of Nevada has already invested $3.2 million in ARPA funds. With the addition of 15 new jobs, the local economy is expected to benefit from enhanced workforce stability and long-term economic growth.
With funding secured, the existing structure will be well-positioned to expand, allowing for the construction of the additional half. The estimated cost of approximately $1.5 million will enable the project to move forward, leveraging the current setup and infrastructure.
