Eureka Girls Earn Wweep

The Eureka County High volleyball team is in the middle of the pack at fourth place out of eight teams in the 1A Northern-East division. Their win over the Carlin Railroaders Friday night definitely helped their cause of moving up in the standings.

The Lady Vandals played two games against Carlin and both were controlled by the home team. Game one was won by scores with sets 25-7 Eureka, 25-17 Carlin and 15-8 Eureka which gave the ladies a win in the first game winning two sets out of three.

Led by Cody Gibbs 10 Kills, Eureka took an offensive approach during the second game. Shauna Brown set the ball very well with 22 assists which helped Eureka dominate the first set 25-9 in favor of Eureka. Eureka finished off the Lady Railroaders with and impressive 25-14 score to take both games of the double header.

Ally Protani made a big difference with her 6 aces on the Homecoming night.

Eureka hosts Jackpot on Friday starting at 3 p.m. in another league contest. The following day the Lady Vandals will travel a lengthy trip to McDermitt to play in another important league battle.

The Lady Vandals will need to win the majority of its next matches and hope for some help to make the regional tournament.
