Eureka Girls get 3 Seed in Upcoming Regional Playoffs

Eureka dropped their final two matches of the regular season last week. They lost to league leader Wells 3-1 and at Tonopah 3-0 in a non-league match to close out the schedule.

But the Lady Vandals (11-15, 7-3) will still qualify for the eight-team 1A Region II tournament in Alamo Nov. 8-9.

That will match the east league against the south league.

Wells (19-8, 10-0) is expected to be the east No. 1 seed, Owyhee No. 2, Eureka No. 3 and Jackpot No. 4.

Green Valley Christian of Henderson, (18-12-2) has won the top spot in the South league this year, wresting it away from eight-time league and three-time defending state champion Pahranagat Valley.

In the match at Wells last week, the teams split the first two games, 14-25, 25-18. But Wells won the final two 7-25, 22-25.

The next day at Tonopah, scores were 13-25, 17-25 and 14-25.

The Muckers (11-4) will likely be the No. 2 seed from the Central League behind Smith Valley (20-6) into the Region I tournament Nov. 8-9 at Virginia City.

The state tournament follows Nov. 14-16 for all classifications at Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas.
