The Eureka High School girls volleyball team defeated Wells in five sets last Saturday and the Owyhee Braves in four sets on Friday.
The Vandals had their biggest in-league test of the season at Wells High School last Saturday. The Leopards took set one, 25-20, and the Vandals rebounded by taking the next two sets, 25-17 and 25-16. Wells won a tight fourth set, 25-22, before falling, 15-11, in the deciding fifth set.
On Friday, after the Vandals won the first two sets, 25-18 and 25-12, the Braves bounced back with a 25-19 win in set three. The fourth set was the best of the match, with the Vandals handling the pressure for a 25-23 win.
Vandal volleyball remains undefeated in league play and now sit atop the standings in front of Owyhee (11-3, 5-1) in the 1A Eastern league.
The Vandals host Lund High School on Thursday, Oct. 9, with matches starting at 4:30 p.m. They’re at Tonopah on Friday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. and come back home to host McDermitt on Saturday, Oct. 11. The team travels to Owyhee and Carlin on the 17th and 18th, and hosts Wells on Oct. 24.
