Eureka to hold Relay for Life this summer

May 19, 2014 by Eureka Sentinel Leave a Comment

Eureka is holding its first annual Relay for Life this summer,  scheduled for July 18 to 19.

What is Relay For Life? An American Cancer Society Relay For Life event is an overnight community gathering where teams camp out at a local school, park, or fair ground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the overnight event, and all teams members are asked to raise a minimum of $100 each.

The event will be held at the Eureka County High School football field from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. For more information contact Diane Wise at 406-591-3472 or 775-237-5713.

Hope Lights the Way: When the sun goes down, hundreds of luminaries light the way under the stars to remember those lost to cancer, those fighting cancer and those who have fought cancer and won. This ceremony of light symbolizes the hope and perseverance with which we all continue to fight.

Honor Survivors: Please join us as our honorary guest in the Survivors Lap, which begins Relay For Life. Your strength and courage help the community see that cancer survivorship is real—that we are making progress in the battle against cancer.

Teaming Up for the Fight: One of three American will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life gives everyone the opportunity to fight back and make a difference in the battle against cancer. Teams come from businesses, clubs, families, hospitals, churches, schools and service organizations. Be a part of a Relay team and make a difference.

Sponsorship: Your business can join in the fight against cancer. Sponsorship increases credibility in your community, gives employees a sense of pride and loyalty and create positive customer awareness and exposure.

We all have been touched in our lives one way or another with a family member, an extended family member, a friend, a neighbor, a co-worker or an acquaintance who is battle or has battled cancer. Let’s join together to make this first Eureka Relay for Life the best.
