Eureka girls’ track and field team wins Northern 1A Regional
Sophomores Victoria Hage and Brooke Watts finished first and second in the Southern Nevada 1A 200-meter final. Hage set a season record with a time of 27.53 seconds, and Watts had a personal best time of 28.03.

The efforts led the Eureka High School girls’ track and field team to a 1A regional championship at Douglas High School last weekend.
Watts also won the 400-meter race with a personal best time of 1:02.83 and the 300-meter hurdles in a personal best 50.28 seconds. Hage won the long jump with a 15-foot, two-inch leap. Watts and Hage also anchored the second-place 4×200-meter relay team.
Freshman Anna McKay ran a personal best 2:34.99 to win the 800-meter final. She also ran a 50.84-second 300-meter hurdle race to finish a close second to her teammate. She was even closer to first place in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing less than two-tenths of a second off the winning pace.
Sophomore Shay Hooper had a personal best shot put toss of 29 feet, 5.5 inches to finish second. She also ran the third leg for the first-place 4×400-meter relay team.

Eureka boys’ track and field team takes third
Junior Joseph Minoletti finished second for the Vandals in the high jump with a five-foot, 10-inch leap. Sophomore Brody Sweet was third in the 100-meters and fourth in the 200-meters. Junior Nathan Tudor placed third in the 200-meter final with a personal best time of 24.28 seconds.
Junior Alexander McKay placed third in the 110-meter hurdles (17.57 seconds) and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles, posting a personal best time of 44.35 seconds. McKay and Minoletti also anchored the second-place 4×200-meter relay team. Sweet and Tudor joined them on the 4×400-meter relay team that finished second.
The boys finished third at the meet.
The state finals are in Moapa Valley, May 16 and 17.
