Grace Tognoni

GRACE TOGNONI

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Grace Tognoni, was called to Heaven on November 12, 2017.

Grace was born the second child of six to Henry T. and Nyta Bolin Clark on July 27, 1932 in Montague, California. Grace’s father was a ‘tramp’ miner; moving he and his family many times as she grew up. So when she married Joe Tognoni on April 7, 1949 she held firm to never moving again. She loved Eureka and was extremely fond and proud of the Eureka Vandals. Not only as her three children grew up and attended E.C.H.S. actively, but up until the time she passed. She looked forward to reading the Eureka Sentinel each week and keeping abreast, in particular, of those Vandals.

Grace had many jobs and worked very hard over the years always believing you did the very best to and for your employer, of which she had many and, at times, worked two or three jobs. She retired from Eureka County in the late 1990’s when her health began to deteriorate.

Many will remember Grace in her later years, ‘toodling’ by their homes at the same time each day – several saying they could set their clocks by her!

Grace enjoyed embroidery work and latch hook rug making until her arthritis became too painful. She loved and had a beautiful yard as well. In her last years she enjoyed search word puzzles and putting puzzles together in her room at Highland Inn in Elko. The earthly angels there commented many times of Grace working those puzzles late at night when she should have been resting. But, Grace was a very strong and determined woman and did it her way or no way! She enjoyed Bingo and playing Yatzee and Aggravation (and continued to ‘cheat’ to the very end!!) especially when playing her Grandchildren!

Grace is survived by her three children, Lou (Ali) Tognoni of Sparks, Nevada, Glady (Pete) Goicoechea of Eureka, Nevada and Annette (Gary) Bowers of Fernley, Nevada. Her grandchildren, Dr. JJ (Sally) Goicoechea of Eureka, Nevada, Joe Bowers (Ami) of Fernley, Nevada, Gio Tognoni (Ashley) of Ketchum, Idaho, Jolene (Dan) Lema of Meridian, Idaho, Antonio (Veronica) Tognoni of Sparks, Nevada, and Angela (Jeremy) Shea of Reno, Nevada.

Her great grandchildren, Hunter Tognoni, Kaiya Tognoni, Joey Bowers, Bella Tognoni, Gianna Shea, Jaxon Tognoni, Julianna Goicoechea, Amelia Goicoechea, and Dante Tognoni. She is also survived by a sister Marg Stockton, of Nezperce, Idaho and a brother Dick Clark, of Wallace, Idaho, and many nieces and nephews.

Grace was predeceased by husband Joe Tognoni, grandsons “Tista” Goicoechea and Brian Bowers, her parents Henry T. and Nyta Clark, sisters Billadean Rodriquez and Ellen Delbridge and brother Jim Clark.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 12 noon at the Catholic Cemetery in Eureka, Nevada officiated by Father Biju. She will be laid to rest by her late husband Joe. A catered luncheon will be served immediately after at the Eureka Opera House. Everyone is most welcome.

Words will never be adequate enough to thank all those who were so wonderful to our mother over the years. You know who you are. And to the angels on earth, all the staff at Highland Inn, Dr. Karen Wright, and Olyna Hughes with Guiding Light Hospice and true and loyal friend Norma Allison, you will all be forever and deeply appreciated and loved.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Brendan’s Catholic Church for improvements (P.O. Box 97 , Eureka, Nevada), the Eureka County High School Athletic programs (P.O. Box 249, Eureka, NV), or a charity of your choice in her memory.

Thank you Mom, that through Christ you gave us the breath of life. May you ‘jitterbug’ through all eternity with Dad. We’ll forever love and miss you.
