Interested in working outside and preserving nature? Great Basin National Park is actively looking for scientist-in-park (SIP) positions.
The park will be hiring two astronomy assistants to partake in a 12-week astronomy program. Astronomy assistants live at Great Basin National Park, conduct research on dark sky preservation and learn about being park rangers. An astronomy or physics degree is not required, but a demonstrated interest in the night sky and science outreach is strongly encouraged to be picked for the position.
Summer SIP applications open in December and close in mid-January. Position start dates vary between May and September.
The deadline to apply is Jan. 19. For more information on the internship position, visit https://www.nps.gov/grba/getinvolved/internships.htm. To apply, go to https://www.scientistsinparks.org/apply.
