Joan Fontes obituary

Joan was born in Grand Junction, Colorado to Emmett Colescott and Nellie (Emmons) Colescott. The family moved to Tres Pines, California when she was twelve. There she met and married Gene Fontes at the age of sixteen. They were happily married for 68 years until Gene passed away in February of this year.

Gene spent most of his life working on ranches in Nevada and Joan usually worked right along side of him as a ranch cook.

In her spare time she loved to fish and enjoyed the outdoors. She also spent a lot of time sewing. Through the years she sent hundreds of stuffed animals she had made to children’s hospitals around the country. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gene.

She is survived by her son Jerry Fontes of Eureka, Nevada, brother, George Colescott of Bell Aire, Texas, sister Jean Fernandes of Fallon, Nevada, brother Bill Colescott of Mindin, Nevada, 3 grandchildren, 6 greatgrandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
