On the 5th of July, 2025, the world lost a great man. Johnny Cunningham left this earth to join his family and friends that have passed before him.
Johnny was born in Austin, Texas, and when he was four years old his family moved to Littlefield, Texas. Johnny was a Cotton Ginner by trade and a top notch mechanic.
He was proud of his Texas heritage and proud of his family. Johnny had eight sisters and two brothers. His parents, five of his sisters and his two brothers have passed before him. The last of his immediate family are:his three sisters, Margaret Stone, Jane Parker and Ann Carson and numerous nieces and nephews.
In his young life, he traveled to Eureka, Nevada, three times from Texas to work in Diamond Valley. On the last trip to Eureka, he met Dallas Venturino, who became his wife on November 26, 1966, and together they began building a life they loved. They were together for 58 ½ years.
They lived in Eureka for a short time, and then moved to Elko, Nevada, and lived there for 50 years where Johnny worked as a mechanic and then after completing additional education, he went to work at Nevada Youth Training Center as a Vocational Instructor. He retired after 40 years.
They were blessed with two children, Codie their daughter and Justin their son. Together with their children, their son-in-law Scott Sanders and their daughter-in-law Lacey they had a full life. Later on, the light of Johnny’s life came into this world, a granddaughter, Dayton Jean Sanders.
In their later years, Johnny and Dallas retired to Fallon, Nevada.
In April this year he celebrated his 90th birthday with friends and family including his wife, children and two of his sisters and a niece from Texas.
He touched many lives and is missed by many……..
