Month-long celebration features cow drawing contest, nutritional tips and support for real-life parenting
RENO – In honor of National Dairy Month in June, the Nevada Dairy Farmers is launching “Let’s Be Real,” a campaign that trades Pinterest perfection for parenting in real-time: messy, meaningful and fueled by dairy.
From spilled milk to string cheese negotiations, the campaign recognizes the everyday chaos of family life and celebrates dairy as a simple, nutritious solution that helps moms meet mealtime challenges without the added stress.
“We know parenting doesn’t always look like a highlight reel, and it doesn’t have to,” said Libby Lovig, RDN, LD, general manager at Nevada Dairy Farmers. “This campaign is about showing up, doing your best and knowing that even the small wins count. Dairy is one of those practical wins because it’s nourishing, easy and something kids enjoy.”
Dairy remains a staple in many Nevada households for good reason. Whether it’s a cup of yogurt at breakfast or a cheese stick snack after soccer practice, dairy offers reliable nutrition that fits into real-life schedules.
Key benefits of dairy include:
- Calcium and Vitamin D: Support bone growth and strength
- High-Quality Protein: Helps kids stay full and supports muscle development
- B Vitamins: Aid in energy production and metabolism
- Potassium: Contributes to healthy blood pressure
“Dairy can be a lifesaver on hectic days; it’s a ready-to-go option that fuels the whole family,” said Lovig. “It doesn’t require special prep or expensive ingredients, which is exactly what many parents need.”
To keep things fun this June, the Nevada Dairy Farmers is inviting children across the state to take part in a cow drawing contest. Young artists are encouraged to get creative, whether their dream cow wears sunglasses, has a stylish outfit or sports colorful spots.
The winning drawing will be transformed into a custom stuffed animal, and the winner’s parent or guardian will receive a $200 SpaFinder gift card to reward themselves with a little pampering for those doing it all. Submissions can be made through the Nevada Dairy Farmers website until June 25, 2025. More information and entry guidelines are available on the website. As part of the campaign, the organization will collaborate with social media content creators to spotlight the everyday ups and downs of parenting, alongside practical ways to include dairy in meals and snacks. Moms can expect to see relatable content all month long from Nevada-based creators such as Margeaux Jasarevic (@mj_dietitian), Amber Rae DiBello (@brunettetahoette), Sarah Elrod (@elrodranch), Kyrsten Brown (@the_brown_diaries) and Nicole Shutt Juzek (@buttsbyshutt).
