Land expansion comment period extended

The comment period for the expansion of the Fallon Range Training Complex Modernization draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) has been extended for the public review and comment period an addition 30 days.

Those wishing to make a comment have now been extended to Feb. 14, 2019 for their comments to be considered in the final EIS.

The U.S. Navy had prepared a presentation for residents of Eureka last month. The presentation explained the potential environmental and financial impacts that the proposed modernization of the Fallon Range may have in the county. The modernization may include, the renewal of the Navy’s current public land withdraw, additional withdraw of public lands for a larger land range expansion, expansion of airspace and range infrastructure modifications and upgrades.

Written comments must be postmarked or received online by Feb. 14 to be considered for the final EIS. All comments submitted become public record and substantive comments will be addressed in the final EIS.
