Let’s face it: ObamaCare isn’t very good

October 23, 2016 by Sherman Frederick Leave a Comment

‘So you’ve got this crazy system where all of a sudden 25 million more people have health care and then the people who are out there busting it, sometimes 60 hours a week, wind up with their premiums doubled and their coverage cut in half. It’s the craziest thing in the world.’ – Bill Clinton

I am no expert on healthcare. Hardly any of us are.

But because we all participate in the healthcare system in one way or another we know one thing — ObamaCare stinks.

Look, I’m just an old newspaperman trying to sustain good community journalism as the valuable service that it is, especially as our “big” newspapers cost-cut themselves into oblivion. To do what I love, I have to also be a good businessman.

That means I must wrestle with ObamaCare and I’m telling you, so far as I can see, we’ve been sold a bill of goods.

And it does us no good to pretend otherwise.

Bill Clinton in a rare moment of clarity for a politician, called it like it is: While ObamaCare added 25 million people to the healthcare rolls, working people who are “busting it, sometimes 60 hours a week” are saddled with “premiums doubled and coverage cut in half.”

“It’s the craziest thing in the world,” he says.

The only thing crazier is when a former president blurts out the truth, he’s shunned for tarnishing the legacy of President Obama.

ObamaCare is deeply flawed. Slapped together by congressional “leaders” such as our own incompetent Harry Reid, who didn’t even read the bill before sending it into law, it was built on lies (if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor) and implemented by amateurs who didn’t even think to test the website before going live.

To now pretend that ObamaCare was a “good start” is a revisionist burr under the saddle.

It’s been a horrible start. Millions remain uncovered. Healthcare costs rise by double digits. People who had decent health care were forced into a system that limited their options and cut them off from more avenues to specialized doctors and hospitals. Options are fewer because insurance CEO’s flee ObamaCare like their hair were afire.

I called out Obama’s press secretary for saying just a month ago that under ObamaCare “everyone’s insurance got upgraded and most can find a plan on the marketplace for $75 a month or less.”

I asked anyone – anyone – to come forward and tell us about their better insurance for the bargain rate of $75 a month or less.

No one came forward because no one’s insurance got cheaper and better.

Somebody’s got to start calling out ObamaCare for what it is – not very good.
