Man Killed in Collision on SR 278 in Eureka County

A man was killed in a vehicle collision last Thursday on State Route 278 near mile marker 76 in Eureka County.

Scott E. Floyd, age 52, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Eureka County Sheriff’s Deputy Coroner after the truck he was driving crossed over the center line and struck the side of a commercial motor vehicle in combination with a manufactured home trailing unit that was traveling north. Floyd’s vehicle was redirected and exited the road before traveling down an embankment.

The driver that was struck, Matthew Erickson, age 28, was uninjured.

This crash remains under investigation.
