Maxine P. Rebaleati passed away on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016.  Maxine was born to Floyd and Katie Peterson on Aug. 13, 1925.  Raised in Wendell, Idaho, located in Gooding County, she graduated from Wendell grade school in 1939 and Wendell High School in 1943.  She graduated from Idaho’s Albion State Normal School with a teaching certificate in 1946.  Maxine returned to college at the age of 58 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Idaho State University in 1985.

In pursuit of her teaching career, she accepted a grade school teaching job in McGill, Nevada in 1947.  During her teaching career in McGill, she meet Joseph Norman Rebaleati.  Maxine and Norman married on June 5, 1949 in Ely, Nevada and lived in Eureka, Nevada.  Maxine and Norman were married for fifty six years.

Maxine was the first Kindergarten teacher in Eureka and retired from teaching at the Eureka Elementary School.  She was instrumental in establishing the Eureka Sentinel Museum, a very active community volunteer, and a faithful member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She loved gardening, square dancing, salmon fishing, boating but most of all playing bridge.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Mary Ann and Michael Risso, Michael and Danette Rebaleati, and Elizabeth (Janie) Rebaleati; her grandchildren Michelle Rebaleati, Jason Hammond and Tanya Olson; her great grandchildren Matthew and Levi Olson and Aliana Hammond.  She is also survived by her brother Danny Peterson and her sisters Patricia Goodhart and Emma Mitchell.  Maxine was preceded in death by Norman in 2005.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers Arthur and Arly and her sisters Anna Nilson and Doris Fattig.

Her family would like to thank the care providers at the Premier Residence of Reno, Life Care Center of Reno and Renown Hospital.  Maxine had deep devotion to her family and all her bridge partners.  Her wonderful dinners will be missed.

At her request there will be no services.  God is now getting more advice on how to play bridge.
