Mona Lee Zumwalt

Mona Lee Dillard Zumwalt, 75, went home to be with her Lord and Savior September 26, 2024. She was born December 9, 1948, in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Uel Sterling Dillard and Wilma Dorthy Dawson Dillard.

Mona grew up on her parent’s potato farm in Merrill, Oregon. She was the third and youngest daughter and attended Henley Elementary School until the family moved in 1958. They briefly lived in Red Bluff, CA, before settling in Eureka, NV where Mona attended Eureka County Schools.

An honor student she received numerous 4-H achievements, including attending the 4-H Congress in the Nevada delegation. Upon graduating with honors in 1967, she received a scholarship to the University of Nevada in Reno.

In 1969, Mona married Gordon Wesley Zumwalt in Eureka. Gordon’s banking career and Mona’s paralegal career took them to many towns throughout Nevada, including: Wells, Las Vegas, Tonopah, Reno, and the Carson Valley, where they made many lifelong friends.
Mona and Gordon traveled extensively in their RV and RZR. They loved the outdoors and enjoyed many trips with friends and family, including many RZR meetups and trips.

Mona is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Zumwalt; parents Uel and Wilma Dillard; and sisters: Dottie Manz and Mary Henzel.

Internment alongside her Vietnam Veteran husband will be at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, NV November 8, 2024 at 2:00pm.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Life Point Church, 1095 Stephanie Way, Minden, NV. November 9, at 1:00pm.

Family and Friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers donations are recommended to the American Kidney Fund online
