These efforts will emphasize on stopping and citing motorists who exceed the posted speed limit; in addition to the speed enforcement campaign, troopers will be looking closely at other traffic violations such as reckless or aggressive driving, Driving Under the Influence, following too closely, talking or texting on a hand-held cell phone and lane change violations.

Anyone violating these offenses will be receiving a citation as part of a “Zero Tolerance” approach to reduce accidents in the area. We are reminding motor vehicle operators to pay attention while driving and obey all the rules of the road.

Troopers, Deputies, and Police Officers from the Nevada Highway Patrol, Lyon and Douglas County Sheriff’s offices, and the Reno Police Department are receiving funding for this enforcement campaign from a joint grant through The Office of Traffic Safety “Joining Forces”.

The primary emphasis will be placed on voluntary compliance through high visibility followed by a zero tolerance for moving violations.
