It is with a gentle mix of sorrow and warm hearts that we remember the life of Paul Elvin Arney, who passed away May 17, 2025; the man with a heart as vast as the open roads and freedoms he loved. Born on June 21, 1957, in Milford, DE, Paul brought a touch of grace into the world that will be missed but never forgotten.
His legacy of love and laughter lives on in the hearts of those he left behind. Paul, a compassionate and generous soul, was the human embodiment of the quote “A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles.” As a semi-truck driver, he had the privilege of seeing the country’s beautiful landscapes, but what he treasured most were the friendships he forged along the way.
His generosity and knowledge knew no bounds, often going the extra mile to lend a helping hand, share a joke, or offer words of encouragement to those who needed it. Paul’s inspiring spirit was infectious, spreading positivity, hope and kindness wherever he roamed, from his birthplace in Milford to Crescent Valley, Nevada.
Paul leaves behind his legacy with wife Debra Arney; his knowledge and perseverance to children: Rebecca Bears Heart, Matthew Arney and Craig Yeo; as well as his sister, Peggy Wilhelm along with their families. They will forever cherish his warm smiles, his long talks, and the wisdom he shared. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mildred Arney.
As we remember Paul, we remember the words of Dr. Seuss, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” And it is with this sentiment in our hearts that we bid Paul a fond farewell. He always told his children that he would pass while they were still young and to treasure the memories, they made with him, not to mourn the loss as he is back home with the Lord where he wants to be. As Mother Teresa once said, “Death is nothing else but going home to God, the bond of love will be unbroken for all eternity.” We encourage you to share your favorite memories of Paul and upload any photographs you may have to his memorial page. Let us remember his life as he lived it, full of joy, compassion, and love.
