Pot Plants Seized at Eureka Cafe

Eureka County Sheriff’s deputies and agents of the North Eastern Nevada Narcotics Task Force executed search warrants at the Eureka Cafe on Sept. 22, resulting in the seizure of a large number of marijuana plants.

Acting on a citizen’s complaint of an unusually strong odor emanating from the building, located at 90 N. Main St., deputies investigated and obtained search warrants for the business. According to personnel on the scene, a large number of pot plants were seized along with cultivation equipment.

The proprietor, 65 year old Jerry Yue of Eureka, was arrested on charges of; possession of marijuana; possession of marijuana with intent to sell; manufacture/cultivate a controlled substance and theft of utilities.

He is currently being held in the Eureka County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.

The cafe has maintained its business license, but has not been operating since sometime in 2013, according to Sheriff’s Office personal. It was once home to Chinese and American cuisine.
