CARSON CITY – The State of Nevada is actively working to recover from a network security incident that was identified early Sunday morning, Aug. 24.
The incident, which is currently under investigation, is impacting the availability of several state technology systems and services.
As a result of the incident, some state offices are not offering in-person services, and agencies will announce when they reopen. State websites and phone lines may be intermittently unavailable. The public is advised to check back later if a site or line is not reachable. Essential services, including emergency call taking and 911, remain available statewide. The State is currently focused on restoring and validating systems before they return to normal operation.
The Office of the Governor and the Governor’s Technology Office (GTO) are collaborating with state, local, tribal and federal partners to restore services. The GTO is utilizing temporary routing and operational workarounds to maintain public access where possible. As of this time, there is no evidence that any personally identifiable information (PII) has been compromised. The incident only affects state government systems and does not impact Nevadans’ home internet or mobile phone services.
State officials are urging the public to be cautious of potential scams during this time. Nevadans should be wary of unsolicited calls, emails or texts asking for personal information or payments. The state will not ask for your password or bank details by phone or email. Official state websites should be used to verify information before acting.
