A new destination for thrifting needs will be popping up on Main Street before too long. Petrichor will be opening in the Old Raine’s Market next spring, providing an assortment of goods for the community to enjoy. Petrichor, named after an old English word that describes the scent of rain, is expected to provide bohemian artifacts focused on neutral tones to create a comfortable space for customers to enjoy. In conjunction with the thrift shop, an energy-healing service named Balance Beam Healing will provide services to customers.
Soon-to-be store owners Marilyn Strickland-Adams and Josie Hoekenga eventually plan on implementing custom services for stickers and patches, along with potentially hosting a slew of other events to bring the community together. Creating a safe and inviting space for people to come together is of the utmost importance to Strickland-Adams and Heokenga, and with the opening of this thrift shop, they strive to create a space for open-mic nights and poetry sessions.
Before Petrichor opens, they are seeking donations from community members. “We take any and everything for donations” shared Strickland-Adams, “even tattered clothes, because we will be upcycling and repurposing items.”
Donations can be made at the back entrance of Old Raine’s on Main Street. Any questions can be referred to Marilyn Strickland-Adams on Facebook.
