The Vandal girls volleyball team split a pair of four-set matches last week, winning at home against Carlin on Thursday, Sept. 11 and falling on the road at Round Mountain the following day.
The Knights came back against Eureka after dropping the first set, 25-11. Round Mountain did get some resistance from the Vandals in the fourth set but managed to eke it out, 27-25.
More importantly, though, the Vandals opened 1A Eastern league play with a win over Carlin. Eureka overcame a crushing loss in set one, 26-24, to roll the Railroaders in the next three sets, 25-16, 25-12 and 25-17.
Next up for the Vandal volleyball team are two matches at home against Lund at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, and Spring Creek at 1 p.m. on Friday.
