The Eureka High School football team fell at home to the Railroaders of Carlin High School, 44-6, on Thursday night, Sept. 11.
“Rough, to say the least. We need to get back to basics, fundamentals and discipline. All were lacking versus Carlin, and that is on me,” said Eureka head coach Fred Minoletti.
Two senior running backs from Carlin combined for over 300 yards rushing, as Dylan Ramirez carried 12 times for 172 yards and Gage Lewis rushed 11 times for 136 yards. No Carlin running back averaged less than 11 yards per carry.
The Vandals (0-3, 0-1) will have a good chance to get their first win at McDermitt (0-2, 0-2) on Saturday, Sept. 20, at noon. The Bulldogs have allowed at least 54 points in both games they’ve played, including a 54-8 loss at Carlin in which they allowed 441 total yards.
