Vandals routed by Wells

October 25, 2013 by Eureka Sentinel Leave a Comment

After not playing a game in three weeks, the Eureka County High football team returned to the field Friday night and took on a visiting Wells team in league play.

The Leopards, coming off a two-week break of their own, didn’t miss a beat and dominated the Vandals 73-0.

Eureka was coming off of its first win of the season in their previous game, Sept. 28, but couldn’t stop a Wells offense that put up 30 first half points. By half, the Vandals trailed 61-0, in part due the three touchdowns scored by Leopards sophomore running back Wyatt Gibbs.

Six Wells players combined for a total of 11 touchdowns, on a night when the Vandals couldn’t get anything going on offense. The Leopards have now outscored their opponents a staggering 179-0 in their last three games.

The Vandals now sit at 1-5 on the year, and will round out the season on Nov.1 at Carlin.
