Vandals sharp in regional tuneup

Eureka senior Alia Minoletti led her team in the shot put event Saturday at the Lowry Invitational in Winnemucca.

Using it as a tune-up for the 3A, 2A, 1A Northern Regional track meet, the Eureka Vandals participated in the Lowry Invitational in Winnemucca May 4.

The boys earned 21½ points in a 10-team field. The girls scored 60½ points in a nine-team field.

Tristan Bircham, the 1A state leader in the both the shot put and discus, won the discus and placed third in the shot put. Garrett Todd tied with Kevin Warren of Lowry for third in the high jump.

The Lady Vandals were second in the 4×100 relay. Alia Minoletti was third in the shot put, and Isabella Minoletti won the long jump and was second in the triple jump.

This week, Friday and Saturday, the Vandal teams take part in the Northern Regional meet at Churchill County High School in Fallon.

This is the qualifying meet for the state meet. The top four individual finishers and relay teams in each event in their respective classifications, advance to the state meet May 17-18 at Desert Oasis High School in southern Las Vegas.

100 meters – Tyler Blanco, 13.04

200 meters – Blanco, 29.04

Shot Put – Tristan Bircham, 42-01½

Discus – Bircham, 135-04

High Jump – Garrett Todd, 5-06

Triple Jump – Todd, 33-06

GIRLS

100 meters – Isabella Minoletti, 14-11

200 meters – Alia Minoletti, 30.33

3200 meters – Cambria Davis, 14.50.99

4×100 relay – Second place, 54.44

4×200 relay – Fourth place, 1:58.99

Shot Put – Alia Minoletti, 31-10, Ilyhia Greely, 29-07, Melissa Schweble, 29-06, Skylar Merritt, 28-06½

Discus – Greely, 95-08, Merritt, 89-06, Davis, 82-02, Schweble, 76-10

High Jump – Louisa Terhalle, 4-06

Long Jump – Isabella Minoletti, 15-11

Triple Jump – Isabella Minoletti, 32-11
