WILLIAM WIDDIFIELD WILKINS
WILLIAM WIDDIFIELD WILKINS

William Wilkins better known to those who knew and loved him as W3 or just 3 for short passed away on Saturday May 14. W3 was born on May 18, 1954 in Richmond, Virginia to Raoul Wheeler Wilkins and Amelia Maxine Lewis. After fighting an illness for several months W3 now joins his beloved sister Ginny in heaven.

As a young boy W3 enjoyed playing baseball. He would gather together a group of kids in the neighborhood with his sisters and they would play games out on the streets. He loved the sport and especially his team the Chicago Cubs.

When he was old enough he joined the army for a time and finished his education and received his GED.

Three loved farming, baseball, beer, the Diamonds and Connie Mo. But more than anything else he loved to talk. Oh how he loved to talk. One of his favorite subjects was his father. He had very fond memories of him and he loved to reminisce about his father. He especially treasured the many drawings he had which were done by his father.

W3 moved to Eureka in the early 70’s. He worked for a few of the farmers out in the valley and then left the area for about 10 years. When he returned in the early 80’s he met his companion and sweetheart Connie Mitchell. After a few odd jobs W3 and Connie ended up working for Everett and Verna Groth on their farm in Diamond Valley. Even though he was a Southern boy he loved living in Diamond Valley, NV.

W3 is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Ginny. He is survived by his sister Susan who lives in Florida.

A celebration of life will be held at the Eureka Opera House on Saturday June 11th at 11 a.m. Pot luck to follow.

W3 was a special guy. He worked for Lon Chaney. I’ve wondered how he was over the years. RIP
