Crescent Valley Volunteer Fire Department reported that there have been eight calls in two weeks. 

On July 22, Beowawe Fire, Crescent Valley Fire, Eureka EMS and Eureka County Sheriff’s Office, along with BLM Fire, Battle Mountain Fire, Carlin Fire and NGM Ranches all responded to an approximately 44-acre wildland fire on Willow Corral Pass Road. The blaze was put out without any buildings being damaged.

On July 24, Crescent Valley Fire, Beowawe Fire, Eureka County EMS and Eureka County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported possible fire on the south side of town, which was determined to be a burn barrel.

On July 25, Crescent Valley Fire, Beowawe Fire, Eureka EMS and Eureka County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident at 306 & Eighth Street.

A burn ban is currently in effect, prohibiting all burning until approximately Oct. 1.

Firefighters from Crescent Valley, Beowawe and the Eureka County Sheriff’s Office recently participated in an intensive vehicle extrication training, honing their skills with newly acquired eDraulic equipment. The two-day training, held on Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26, in Crescent Valley, aimed to bolster the region’s emergency response capabilities.

A total of eight firefighters from Crescent Valley Fire, three from Beowawe Fire, and one from the Eureka County Sheriff’s Office attended the crucial training. The hands-on sessions focused on the effective and safe use of the department’s new eDraulic extrication tools. These cutting-edge tools, known for their battery-powered hydraulic capabilities, were obtained last year through a LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Committee) grant, a vital funding source for emergency preparedness and response.

The training was led by Jason Solak from LN Curtis, the company from which the eDraulic equipment was also procured. Solak provided expert instruction, ensuring that participants gained comprehensive knowledge and practical experience with the advanced tools.
