The Eureka County High School girls volleyball team’s season came to an end on Saturday, Oct. 31, falling in four sets to the Owyhee Braves. After dropping set one 25-15, the Lady Vandals bounced back to take set two 28-26. But the Braves rolled through the next two sets, 25-16 and 25-17.
“We just came up a little short against the Braves during regionals. Owyhee came in attacking the net and playing aggressively. The girls put up a good fight, but we just couldn’t finish,” Eureka head coach Erin Vial said.
The Lady Vandals lose five seniors to graduation, including Brooke Watts and libero Jazmine Martinez. Anna McKay and Reagan Mello should return for her senior seasons, however.
“We are definitely looking forward to next year. We have some strong underclassmen coming up who are ready to fill the shoes of our departing seniors,” said Vial. “It was a privilege to coach this team this year. We learned a lot as new coaches. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of girls to coach in our first season.”
